Aerial aftermath of deadly wildfire in Butte County

Aerial footage filmed from a California Army National Guard UH-60M Black Hawk on Thursday shows the aftermath of California's deadliest wildfire on record, in Butte County, California.

According to the authorities, the wildfire has so far claimed the lives of at least 63 people statewide, with the number of people missing or unaccounted for having soared to 631.

The fire has razed nearly 12,000 homes and buildings and has led to the evacuation of some 52,000 people.

A search for victims of a catastrophic blaze that reduced a northern California town to ashes intensifies. Authorities now say more than 600 people are missing and 63 have been confirmed dead after the Camp Fire ripped through the town of Paradise. Eve Johnson reports.

Officials raising the figure on Thursday night (November 15) as firefighters continue to battle the flames a week after the fire started.

Dozens of people have been confirmed dead making it the most lethal wildfire in California history.

The high death toll blamed on the fire's staggering speed fueled by dried scrub and trees as it raced through Paradise, a town of 27,000.
